My experience with Abraxene

I have started my 3rd cycle of Abraxene for stage IV breast cancer. Wait, is it third or fourth?
Either way, I am so pleased that my CA27.29, the tumor marker they test, is coming down. I am looking forward to having that count keep falling.
The side effects, pretty mild, are worth my renewed hope for killing off the cancer cells in my body. But, for anyone who wants to understand what Abraxene is like, let me tell you what I have experienced.
I am taking Abraxene weekly for three weeks, then I have a week off. I also get a monthly shot of Xgeva to strengthen my bones, which are weakened by the small tumors I had.
Really, the side effects are well managed and don't keep me from working full time or being a parent. However, on the weeks in get the double wammy I really know it.  Xgeva does cause aches in my bones and joints. The last few days I have also have leg cramps. And my back and joints feel tender and inflamed. Ibuprofen will help with that.   The Abraxene does cause mild nausea.  Zofran does a great job of knocking that out. I only need a few pills over 3-4 days to get feeling better again. And, lots of water and frequent meals or snacks also help. Some people have no nausea, mine is very mild.
In the first treatments I felt like I could rebound better. Now, I feel most tired 4 days after I get my infusion rather than day 3. I imagine that the tiredness will vary I. Severity and days based on a lot of elements.
If any readers have taken Abraxene and want to share your experience, please leave comments.
A little chemo struggle in exchange for more time, worth it!

Wow - I cannot believe how much you have to go through. You are amazing and I have so much admiration for you. I don't comment nearly enough, but I read everything you post. You are continually in my prayers. PS - I need to borrow your daughters one night so you can get some rest :)
